Dinosaurs to Birds: fossils and evolution, a 3D holographic book

Still Here, an interactive natural-history book for students of about 11–16 (middle and high school life and Earth science, GCSE Biology) on the fossil evidence that birds are living dinosaurs. Each of its six plates turns a printed fossil skeleton into an amber 3D hologram: reading a fossil in its rock with Sue the T. rex, deep time, the same bones in a T. rex, a Velociraptor, Archaeopteryx and a chicken, feathers that came before flight, the line to birds shrinking from 163 kg to 0.8 kg over about 50 million years, and the family tree that crosses the end of the Cretaceous. On each plate students make a prediction, watch a short demonstration, work the hologram themselves, lift a flap to see why and earn a stamp. A reading lens magnifies the printed text, and teachers’ notes map every plate to NGSS and AQA GCSE Biology 4.6.
