How an Airliner Works: a 3D x-ray of a jet’s hidden systems

Inside the Jet, an interactive 3D explainer of an Airbus A320-family airliner parked on a sunny apron. A scan line x-rays the jet into smoked glass so the systems hidden around your seat show in colour, in seven short chapters: the structure and every system at the gate; the fuel tanks in the wings and the order they empty; the slats and flaps that reshape the wing for take-off, driven by hydraulics; the LEAP-1A engine, where most of the push comes from air flowing around its core; the cabin’s air supply and pressure at 11 km; the landing gear and the orange flight recorders; and a short quiz. You can drag the x-ray along the jet, light one system at a time, refuel the tanks, set the flaps, start the engine and push the thrust, climb, and raise and lower the gear.
